There's a lot of "why don't you read the documentation" notes on this page. Isn't this FAQ part of the documentation? Why don't you just answer the questions and leave the snide remarks out.

Xfce is touted as a lightweight desktop manager. Are there any objective comparisons available? Has anyone done any benchmarking of Xfce versus Gnome or KDE? I've tried Gnome and Xfce on my Ubuntu system, and Xfce does seem a *bit* snappier, but I'd like to see some die hard numbers to help convince me.
